Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz is not against analytics in ice hockey as a valuable assessment tool, but he is against his team playing what he calls an analytics match.
Trotz said he saw the Capitals do too much of that on their recent three-match road trip into Western Canada, when they went 1-2 using a win from the Calgary Flames and losses to the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks.
